Ma. Florevel "Floe" Fusin-Wischusen
Readcycle, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by Ma. Florevel Fusin-Wischusen in December 2011. What inspired her was the outpouring of generosity she saw from students, faculty and staff at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA after she conducted a campus-wide book drive in Spring 2007. While organizing the said project, she forged a partnership Beverly Bradley who heads the Cops n’ Kids Program in Southside Bethlehem, who was instrumental in helping Fusin-Wischusen secure the funds to cover the shipping costs for the donated books. Over 7,000 books were collected and donated to several public elementary schools and community halls in the Visayas region of the Philippines in February 2008.
ReadCycle’s mission is to promote literacy and foster a passion for reading to people of all ages by providing new and used books to underfunded public schools and community centers as well as impoverished families in the Philippines and other developing countries. It will also encourage donations of educational materials from individuals, organizations and companies across the US to be distributed to the beneficiaries of qualified recipient entities.
